The Institute for World Economics, Budapest has been involved in a major China project with the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office since 2006. As a result of this strategic research, some aspects of China’s internal development and international relations have been analysed. 

The first year of this project produced about 15 studies, two conferences and one book (Chance and Reality) – for the time being only in Hungarian.

The second year contains more than 25 studies and several background studies. The output is two books. The main results are published in the Continuity and Change. The backround studies comes in an additional book.

The project continues in 2008-09 and - according to the renewed and prolonged agreement - also in the next years. The results of the third stage will be published the second half of 2009.

China Network Team

Several China projects are running in the European Union. The Understanding China site collects these issues. The Institute for World Economics - the host of the chinanetwork.hu site - become a member of this EU portal.

 As an important mission, we broaden the horizons of the research and organise a CEE regional China expert network, researchers and younger people - dealing with or interested in China and the Chinese economy - not only in Hungary but also in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
Until the end of 2008 several researcher registered him/herself at the ChinaNetwork. We are about to publish their records.

We have gained researchers from Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and few from Hungary.
